PRIMARY SCHOOLS' NEEDS
RETURN OF FIVE-YEAR-OLDS MORE LIBERAL CAPITATION [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Friday Primary school interests were discussed at a conference of representatives of school committees and parents' associations last evening. Mr. H. M. Baker presided over a large attendance.
Mrs". A. W. Wheeler outlined a resolution passed by the Hamilton West Parents' Association and after a good deal of discussion the following resolution was passed:— "That this representative meeting of parents feels that it is only justice in asking for the immediate consideration of the following five points:—(l) The earliest possible return of the five-year-old children; (2) until their return there be no down grading of schools; (3) that the rationed teacher scheme end this year; (4) more liberal capitaticto allowance to primary schools; (5) that the staffing of primary schools be taken on peak rolls as a means of reducing the size of classes."
It was decided to forward the resolution to the Minister of Education and the three candidates for the Hamilton seat.
