SOME SCATTERED SHOWEBB "• CONDITIONS IMPROVING The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, were as follows:—The recent depression now '■¥< lies cast of New Zealand and an anticyclone is advancing across the Tasroaq Sea. Pressure is falling, however, in south-eastern Australia. The indications are for southerly winds, strong in places between Banks Peninsula and Cook Strait, but decreasing and otherwise moderate, later veering to westerly and north-westerly in the south. Seas rather rough to rough, but decreasing, north of Farewqjl Spit and between Akaroa and Castlepoint, elsewhere moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to fresh southerly winds veering to westerly in the southern portion; seas moderate to rather rough. The weather should be changeable, with scattered shows, but improving. Temperatures cold, with some inland frosts in the South Island.

SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST MAINLY FAIR AND COOL The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Moderate south-westerly winds. The weather is likely to be mainly fair, but some scattered showers are probable. Cool temperatures. Seas rather rough on the west coast, but decreasing and otherwise moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —After two days of boisterous, wet conditions the weather was fine and sunny yesterday and a light breeze was blowing from the sonth-weet.
