KNOCKED DOWN FIVE TIMES great recovery staged [fhom oca owx coHnrspoxnExr] LONDON, Oct. 5 Harry Mizier. the ex-light-weight champion of England, gained one of the roost sensational victories ever seen when he beat Gustave Humery, the French boxer, at the Albert Hali. '"Tiger'' Humery fulfilled his nametto the letter with fierce relentless fighting furv. He tore into Mizier like a hurricane at the start, and knocked him off his feet on four occasions for a count of nine. It was a thrilling, spectacular battle, and the crowd was worked up into a state of tremendous excitement. Three times in that third round had Mizier been put down, writes the Daily Telegraph correspondent. He seemed to have reached the point, of utter exhaustion. In the fifth round another mighty punch to the body sent Mizier down again. He pulled himself upright by the use cf the ropes, staggered through that round, and was all ijut knocked out again in the sixth, when he took another count of nine seconds. The transformation in the eighth round was one of those miracles of the ring that one sees perhaps once in twenty years. A very fine rizhthand punch to the jaw, a blow precisely the same as one he had landed in the first round, shook the tough Frenchman. For the first time in the fight he paused and waited. Mizler's coolness in this critical moment was that of the truly great fighter. He upper-cut Humery twice, dazed him. and then crashed home two more punches to the jaw. One of the upper-cuts had split Humery's upper lip. The Frenchman's arms ■ topped to his side. He turned round, with his back to Mizier. The Englishman looked at the referee, who signalled him to continue. One more punch, however, and the towel was thrown m. Humery, his eyes glazed and blood streaming down his chest, was led to his corner. The fight was over.
