FALL FROM EXPRESS
NAVAL MAN'S EXPERIENCE THROWN CLEAR OF WHEELS [by telegraph—own correspondent} WANGANUI. Thursday One of the party of 22 naval rating* . from H.M.S. Dunedin who are irtakiing a hurried trip from Bluff to Auckland under special orders to join H.M.S. Diomede had a narrow escape from serious injury when ho fell from tb® Wellington-Auckland Main Trunk express near Utiku to-night. At the time } of the accident the express was travelling at about 30 miles an hour. The sailor, when he fell car, landed clear of the wheels and apparently was unhurt. When he recovered from his fall he was attracted by a light in a farmhouse window and set off to seek assistance. He was hospitably treated by the farmer, who conveyed hifn by motor-car to the r l fill ape railway station, about seven miles away. The sailor later boarded the tollowing limited express.
