MARTHAS EASIER HIGHER PRICE FOR PLACERS There was an easier tendency in Marthas in the mining market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Waihi Investments sold at 15s and 14s lid, a loss of Id, and Waihi Junctions were unchanged at 3s 9d. In a sale at £5 7s 6d, Placers advanced 3s 6d. Closing quotations were:—

THAMES THEATRE COMPANY NET PROFIT OF £4Ol A net profit oil £4Ol, compared with a loss of £265 ill the previous period, was earned by the Thames Theatre Company, Limited, for the year ended August 31. A debit balance of £l4.} was brought forward, leaving iZoS available. As announced in tho Hkiiald on September 27, a dividend of J per cent is payable. Tho directors report that an arrangement was arrived at between tho company's lessees and tho local opposition for the joint working of the two theatres at Thames. Consequent upon this arrangement, a fresh lease of tho company's theatre was granted to Amalgamated Theatres, Limited.
TIN DISCOVERY THE AUSTRALIAN FIND With reference to the discovery of tin in Central Australia, a report from the mining warden at lennant's Creek states that the public should make full inquiries before investing in the new find, as the specimen stono from some leases is probably above the average of the ore available. Tho report states that tho tin occurs in tho form of tinstone (tin o:cidc) up to 61b. in weight. These masses are loose in tho surface material near tho junction between the granito and schist country rock. Tin has not jet been found in lodes in the country rock. More than 40 leases have been pegged.
