Thnwdar Alterations in the days for'the par* ment of State pensions have been authorised by the Minister of Pensions, Hon. J. 6,. Cobbe. At present payments are made on the 23rd day of each month, but if that day falls on a Saturday and only a few hours are available for the collection of money, congestion inyariably occurs at the paying offices. It is now provided that in months when the 23rd day falls on a Saturday the payment will be made on the previous day. The new system wiil come into operation next month, and pensions will be paid on Friday, November 22, instead of Saturday, November 23. It has also been arranged that pensions and family allowances normally payable on December 23 to 25 will be paid on December 20 in order that recipients may obtain their money before the Christ* mas holidays.
