THE SEASON'S ACTIVITIES PROGRESS IN ROAD RACING The Auckland Amateur Cycling Centre held its fourth annual meeting when the Auckland Ladies, Auckland, Beach Haven, .Lynndale, Takapuna, Papatoetoe and Mauukau Clubs were represented. ' The report showed a marked advance on the previous season's activities. The season ended with a total of 375 registered riders made •up as follows:—Manukau Club, 93; Papatoetoe, 63; Lynudile, 55: Auckland, 39; Takapuna, 31;-'Hamiltm, 28; Botorua, 17; Beach Haven, 16; Auckland Ladies, 15: Horotiu, 11; Waikato, 7. Of the provincial championships A. G. Patrick, of the Manukau Club, won all four track titles and G. W. Holland, of the Manukau Club, won the.junior tandem-paced mile title. At the Dominion chdmpionships held at Petone A. G. -Patrick, ,C. Gooder, M. P. Byrnes and L. H. Dwight competed. Byrnes had the misfortune to crash heavily when leading on the final lap o$ the sprint title event. Gooder finished second in the unpaced kilometre with a time of 2m 21 3-sb, while Patrick finished third in the humanpaced 10 miles race. ; Tho road racing phase of the Bport attracted 'most interest and big entries characterised- all the open races. The season started with a 22 miles race in May and concluded with the 100 miles event in October. The latter evont carried North Island and Auckland provincial honours, both of which were won by the Manukau Club rider. L. M. Nicholson, in the record time of 4h. 44m 2s. The junior road championship, decided under unpaced conditions over a 13 miles course, was won by J. H. Gillbanks,. of the Manukau Club. The scratch racing events decided during the track season helped considerably to improve the standard of racing. The Manukau Club won the series with 56 points, with Papatoetoe next with 47, followed by. Auckland, 32, and Lynndale,: 12."'. ■; The following officers .were elected dent-, Mr. H. It was decided to forward a remit to the association, that all Dominion track championship meetings fce decided on per-manently-surfaced, hard-oanked tracks. The Auckland Amatear Athletic and Cycle Club was granted permission to hold the Labour Day meeting at the Auckland Domain. '
