RATANA AT TAURANGA
[jBT TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAUIIANOA, Tuesday Eight hundred Maoris gathered at Maungatapu pa, near Tauranga, to hear addresses by the Maori leader, I? a tana, and the Ratana candidates for Parliamentary seats, namely, Messrs. T. Ratana (Western Maori), T. Oinana (Eastern Maori), and T. K. Paikea (Northern Maori). Mr. J. A. Asher, Democrat candidate for tho Western Maori seat, also spoke. Ratana and his party intend leaving to-morrow for Rotortia, A Maori team from the Ratana pa at Wanganui played a match on the Domain this afternoon against fifteen selected from players of tho Tauranga district. The Ratana fifteen proved superior in all departments, and iron by 32 points to 8.
