The indications ■< aro for moderate to strong southwesterly to southerly winds of gale!' force in places in the North Island and along the east coast of the South Island ; but moderating soon. Seas rough to high over the west coast of the North Island and rather rough to rough elsewhere. In the eastern Tasman Sea, strong southerly winds and rough seas' but wind and sea gradually moderating'. The weather should bo cold, changeable and squally with showers in most districts and'hail on parts of the east coast, but improving soon, however, on the west coast of the South Island and gradually improving elsewhere. . ,

Occasional light showers were experienced during the day, but was heavier and more frequent in the - evening. After falling to 29.50 in. at mid-day the barojneter was rising in tho evening. Wellington.—Rain fell in the early morning and the day was cold arid; mostly cloudy, but there was a little sunshine in the afternoon. A strong southerly wind prevailed. The maximum temperature was 51deg. Christchurch.—The weather was cold! and overcast. A fresh south-westerly wind was blowing and there were some brief showers in the morning. Dunedin. —A cold south-westerly wind and unsettled weather prevailed Rain fell throughout Sunday night, and yesterday was showery with brief periods of sunshine. The maximum temperature was 46deg. The barometer showed little movement and registered 29.50 in. last evening.
