[BRITISH TEAM'S WINS MATCHES AT MIDDLEMORE NORTH ISLAND SIDE BEATEN V SUPERIORITY OF VISITORS The members of the British Indies' golf team niado their first appearance in Auckland yesterday when they defeated a North [stand team at the Auckland Golf Club's links at Middlcmoro in both foursomes and singles matches. This was only the second serious contest of the visitors' Dominion tour, as apart from their victory over the South Island at Shirley, they had played in exhibition games only.

The results of yesterday's matches wore as follows: —

FOURSOMES Mrs. J. B. Walker and Miss J. Andersoii, Britain, beat Misses W. Barns Graham, Poverty Bay, and P. Helean, Wanganui, 5 and 4. Miss P. Wade and Mrs. W. Greenlees, Britain, beat Mrs. 11. S. Deighton, Titirangi, and Mrs. E. L. Barker, llotorua, 3 aud 1. SINGLES / Mrs. J. B. Walker, Britain, beat Miss W. Barns Graham, Poverty Bay, b and 3. Miss «T. Anderson, Britain, beat Miss P. Helean, Wanganui, 5 and 4. Miss P. Barton, Britain, beat Mrs Deighton, Titirangi, 4 and 3. Mrs. W. Greenlees, Britain, beat Mrs. E. L. Barker, lJotorua, 10 and 8. The visiting players created a most favourable impression upon the several hundreds of golfing supporters who wero privileged to see them in action. The conditions for play wero anything but pleasant, a strong south-westerly wind, accompanied by occasional showers, affecting the accuracy of tho driving and approaching. However, tho visitors adapted themselves much better to the conditions than their opponents, and considering that the contestants played from the men's tees, apart from the fifth, twelfth and eighteenth holes, the scoring was very creditable.
