RELIEF WORK IN SWAMP

A request for further assistance in obtaining improved conditions for relief workers engaged in reclaiming a swamp between Mount Albert Road and May Road, Mount Roskill, was made yesterday by the National Unemployed Workers' Movement to the group of Auckland clergy which has been interesting itself in tho welfare of tho unemployed. ftepresontativos of the group recently visited the job and wero asked by tho men for support in an endeavour to have gum boots provided and tho headquarters shed moved to a position where it was easier of access in wet weather. The clergymen promised to bring the matter before the Wesley Trust Board, which owns the property. The group was informed yesterday that promises of improvement had not been carried out, and agreed to take up tho matter again.
