AVONDALE WOMEN'S CLUB
The monthly meeting of the Avondale Women's Club was held on Tuesda.V afternoon, in the Blockhouse Bay Hall. The president, Miss Newton, presided and made reference to tho death of Mrs. Berry-Riloy, one of the original members of the club. Members stood in silence in sympathy with her daughter, Mrs. B. Mvers.
Three remits from the National Council of Women were considered and voted upon, and Miss Newton reported at length on the conference held recently by that organisation in Dunedin. The need for greater telephone facilities at the southern end of the district was discussed and a resolution bearing on the subject was carried. An address entitled "The East Expanding: New Zealand's Opportunity," was given by Mrs. F. Bauer, who, having spent many years in the East, considers there are great opportunities for Zealand to establish trade relations with Southern China.
