EPISODE AT CHATEAU
"GREATLY EXAGGERATED" COMMENT BY MINISTER [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL EEPORTEIII WELLINGTON, "Wednesday "Greatly exaggerated" is'the description applied by the Minister in charge of the Tourist Department, Hon. A. Hamilton, to the recent episode at the Chateau Tongariro, National Park, in which the manager of the Chateau, Mr. R. Cobbe, was seriously injured. The matter was the subject of a question in the House of Representatives by Mr. F. Langstone (Labour —Waimaritio), and in his reply to-day the Minister stated that the police inquiries irere not yet complete.
"Information received up to the present," said Mr. Hamilton, "indicates that the occurrence has been greatly exaggerated." -
Mr. Cobbe, who was admitted to the Taumarunui Hospital on September 9 suffering from concussion and bead: injuries, was removed from the hospital to a Taumarunui hotel on Monday. He will be confined to his bed for a considerable time, and a nurse will be in constant attendance. Mrs. Cobbe stated last night that her husband was making very slow but satisfactory progress, but was not able to see any visitors. It was unlikely that he would be able to resume his duties at the Chateau until about Christmas.
