Tolegraphing last evening, the Herald's Canterbury correspondent stated that the track was likely to be fast. Tho following horses were likely to bo well supported:— Hrst Hurdles.—Trishna, Sunward. Ohapi Hack Handicap.—Violenta, Disguise. Geraldine Cup.—Wino, Silver Sight. Geraldine trot.—Casanova, Wagon Wheels. Squatters' Handicap.—Kinnoull, Cranford. Raukapiika Handicap.—Concert Pitch, Madam Pompadour. Orari Trot.—Nancy de Oro, Civic. Belneld Handicap. Metal Bird, Quietly. The single pool betting system will be used.

Silver Sight has been rehandicapped 51b in the Geraldine Cup, making his weight 8 13 There is every probability that Wino will start in the cup in preference to his other engagement, the Belfield Handicap. Kirwan, Silver Sight, Quietly, Trumpet Blast, Rebel Chief; D. O'Connor. Nocturnus, Silver Streak; C. L Wilson, Disguise, Dodge, Metal Bird. Tunneller. Rose of Tralee; G. CHIEF RULER'S STOCK A VERY SUCCESSFUL SIRE The now defunct Westmere siro Chief Ruler was responsible for both second and third plaoe-gettars in the Avondale Guineas. This season's crop of. yearlings will figure as tho last of Chief Ruler s stock. ... . r Chief Ruler was a prolific Biro of winners and in add tion to twice heading the list of winning sires in New Zealand he was represented by many winners of good rac?s in Australia and even in South Africa. Tho Westmere draft of thirteen jearlings for the national sales includes three colts and eight fillies bv the noted son of The Tetrarch Tho coltn are from Helen (sister to Golden Hair), Prestige (ICulogv family), and tho imported mare Very Hot, who also is from this family. , , , Mr. Donald has b;en very successful in producing winners from his stud and this refers in particular to the daughters of Chief Ruler. Du Barry, of whom nothing like the best has yet been seen, is a case in point. Mr. Donald's fillies this year are from the young imported mares Irish Lyric.
