DIVERGENCE IN PENALTIES UNIFORMITY ADVOCATED [IIY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Wednesday Criticism of the lack of uniformity in penalties imposed on intoxicated motorists was made by Mr. A. E. Ansell, M.P., at the annual meeting of the Otago Automobile Association. Mr. Ansell expressed tho view that en intoxicated motorist should receive his education behind bars. He said he was astonished at the variety of penalties inflicted in such eases, and he added that he considered tho magistrate had been wrong in suppressing the name of a woman motorist who was recently convicted.
