There tfas a. slightly bettor turnbrer on tho Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, hut the volume of business was still well below normal. In Government loans the March, 1939-43, 3} per cent stock eased 7s Gel on sale at £lO4 17s 6d, but the 1938-52 issue was traded at the current rate. Inquiry for tho 1946 stock was a shade firmer. Although the demand for banks was wider, no business was done. Offers were raised by 12s 6d for New South Wales, while Nationals of New Zealand also were sought at higher levels. Xn the insurance section support was a shade easier for South British, but New Zealands were slightly better. A gain of 9d was established by Dominion Breweries in two sales at 16s 9d and when more were wanted at 17s holders raised their limits to 18s. Auckland Gas and Kaiapoi Woollen (7s paid) both rose Id in dealing. Australian industrials generally were slightly firmer. Australian Iron and Steel (preference) were placed 6d better at 2os 9d, while Broken Hills sold at 66s Dd, a fair of 9cl on the last Auckland sale, but an improvement on more recent southern dealing. Dunlop-Per-driaus showed further improvement in business at los 4d. Among Dominion issues, the principal movement was in Berleis (N.Z.), which were done at 60s, a rise of 4s over the past few ,weeks.
