BEAUTIFYING THE BOROUGH COUNCIL APPROVES SCHEME [BT TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] MATAMATA, Tuesday A scheme for a progressive policy of co-operation between the Mataniata Borough Council and the Beautifying Society was approved by the council at its meeting last night. / Mr. A. E. Wrigley and Mr. W. M. Griffiths, who had been appointed to confer with the Beautifying Society, presented a report outlining the proposals, and the council agreed to provide maintenance up to £SO a year, and also provide a further £25 a year toward the cost of new work. An application for the hire of the Town Hall for use as a skating rink for a term was refused. The purchase of a second-hand tractor and grader at a cost of £l4O was approved, and it was also decided to purchase a bitumen spraying outfit. Building permits to the value of £1506 were issued during - the past month.
