COLLISION NEAR TAUPO

TRUCK AND VAN INVOLVED LIGHTER VEHICLE D;\MAGED [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORI','SS]?ONDI!NT] TAUPO, Wedneiday An accident involving two motor vehicles occurred about fivo miles from Taupo on the road to Oiruanui yesterday afternoon. A truck loaded with posts was travelling down a ulight grade, and two of the posts, which it is stated were projecting over the side of the truck, struck, in passing, the windscreen of a van owned by the Taupo Meat Company and, driven by Mr. Charles Bryenton.

The windscreen of the lligliter vehicle was smashed, as well as the side cf the body. The van ran off into the scrub on the side of the road, where the engine stalled, the driver having been temporarily stunned through being struck by the end of a pout, ■which fortunately broke off with the impact against the windscreen bracket. E!e received severe bruises to hi,} right arm and shoulder. Mr. Bryenton was brought to Taupo in the truck, which waii undamaged, while the van was towed in by a wrecking truck.
