MEN AS TEACHERS

difficult to obtain ONLY 71 AUCKLAND STUDENTS "I am disappointed that there is such a small proportion of men students at the Auckland Training College," said Mr. W. I. Bowyer at a meeting of the Auckland Education Board yesterday, when it was reported that of the 220 students at the college 149 were women and 71 men. Mr. Bowyer added that permission had been given for equal representation of both sexes. "We could not get any more men," said the secretary, Mr. D. W. Dunlop. It was reported that the number of teachers in the service of the board on July 1 was 2043, comprising 1117 women and 926 men. The total included ex-students on the relieving list.
