Sept. 2 In the national tennis championships at Forest Hills to-day the men's singles resulted:—Perry beat Parker, 6—4, 6 —2, 6—o; Shields beat Ilowden, 66 —4, 6 —o; Meiizel heal; Watt (Montreal), 6—4, 6 —2, 6 —3. Perry was enjoying the warmth of a pine log fire in the suburban home of friends on a drizzly, chilly clay and rebelled when officials telephoned to say his match would be played as scheduled. However he capitulated and marched on to the court without his dustomary smile. Parker broke through in the third game for a two-one lead. This roused Perry, who ended the* natch as quickly as possible. The women's matdien were deferred. TEST AT DURBAN WIN FOR AUSTRALIA DURBAN. Sept. 2 Australia defeated South Africa in the second tennis test match by four rubbers to one, Saturday's uncompleted doubles being abandoned. Results of to-day's play are: —Crawford (who lost to Farqubarson on Saturday) beat Robins, 6—3, 2—6, 6—2; Qui si; beat Farquharson, 6 —2, 6-—4. Crawford and Quint beat Farquharson and Kirby. 5 —7, 6 —3, 6 3, 9 7.
