BOWLING NOTES
CLUB CHALLENGE MATCHES BY SKIP A peculidir feature of the challenge bowling matches played on Saturday was that in both the Edwin Stars and Denisori Pins contests the holders had easy victories. In the Edwin Stars game, McMillan's Hemuera team, which has developed into u very solid combination, gave Thomson's Hillborough team no chance The holders were in excellent form, playing the various shots required in a masterly way. Harvey, the No. 2, gave an outstanding display, and McMillan did all that was required of him.. The scores were level on the sixth head after which the Hemuera rink asserted itself, and with a run of stcores of 3, 1. C, 5, 1, 2 and 2 led by 22 points to 5 with 12 heads played. The final score was 31—10. The next challenger is Chiplin, of JRawhiti. Although the final score was 21 —S !n favour of T. Walker's team from Mount Albeit in the Denison Pins game with Delamore's Mount Eden rink, the match was more closely contested than the scores indicate. There were no big scores, only two threes 'being recorded by Walker's team, while fourteen singles were secured,, eight by the holders and six by the challengers. _ Mount Eden opened the scoring with a single, and Mount Albert secured a three on the next head. Both sides made singles up to the seventh head, but Walker secured another three, the score then being 13 —3 with ten heads played From this point onward the heads were keenly contested, the holders being generally successful with scores ol singles and twos. The game finished! on the 20th head. The next challenger is L. Russell, of St. Hcliers, who will be followed by Hunt, Takapuna.
