TARANAKI V. PIAKO MATCH ENDS IN DRAW [by TELEGRAPH OWN correspondent] MORRINSVILLE. Friday The touring Taranaki hockey team visited Morrinsviile yesterday and played a came ngainst Piako at the Mangatcparu Domain. The match was drawn, two-all. Piako played with the wind during the first half, and after play had been up and down the field for some time the ball camo across to Cottincham in the Taranaki circle, who hit it high into the net. giving the visiting goalkeeper no chance. The home side led I—o at half-time. Taranaki attacked early in the second half and several shots went just outside the net. Pinko had a turn at attack and, following a long shot from Cottingham which'struck the crossbar and rebounded, N. Stevens goaled, putting Piako two goals in the lead. Taranaki made great efforts to scoro and a fa?t shot rebounded off N. Harvey's pads, a corner resulting. A minute later Duncan scored with a high shot which hit the post and went into the goal. From the bully-off the Taranaki forwards raced through, and the spectators had a thrill when Duncan beat the opposing backs to send a fast shot into the goal. There was no further score.
