THEFT FROM POST OFFICE
MAORI PLEADS GUILTY COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE ["by telegraph—own correspondent] DARGAVILLE, Friday Two Maoris appeared on remand at the Police Court before Messrs. A. J. Finch and A. C. Paul, justices of the peace, jn connection with theft from the Kainu Post Office. Andrew Daniels, aged 21, a labourer, and Tiopira Paniora, 17, a farm hand, were charged with breaking and entering the post office and stealing three postal packages. In all eight witnesses were called. The justices considered the evidence against Daniels was not conclusive enough to convict him and he was discharged. Paniora, who pleaded guilty, was committed to the Supreme Courtfor sentence. Daniels was further charged with being an idle and disorderly person and consorting with reputed thieves, and after the hearing of evidence he was found guilty and sentenced to thret' month?' imprisonment.
