INVENTOR'S SON
CHARLES EDISON DEAD A MYSTERIOUS VISIT (Received August 26, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 25 The death has occurred of Mr. Charles Edison, son of the late Mr. Thomas A. Edison, famous inven:or. Deceased' arrived on Friday night at a hotel in Springfield, Massachusetts, with two male companions. They registered under assumed names, and the purpose of their visit is not known. The late Mr. Charles Edison had been president of Thomas A., Edison, Incorporated, since the death of his famous father in 1931. The firm comprised between 30 and 40 industrial corporations. During the Great War deceased directed the manufacture of a variety of war materials and was chairman of the West Orange Liberty Loan Organisation.
Mr. Edison also was a director of the American-Russian Chamber of Commerce; of the National Emergency Council, and of the National Recovery Administration. He controlled the two last-named in the State of .New Jersey. He married in March, 1918, Miss Carolyn Hawkins, ol : Cambridge, Massachusetts.
