Speaking at a reception given by tho Queensland Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society to the Commonwealth secretary of the society, tho Hcv. A. 'J'. Thompson, in Brisbane recently, Dr. Hart-Davies said that the general opinion of the people of other countries regarding Scotsmen and their fondness for money was absolutely incorrect. All bough ho had been in Scotland for only two years, said the speaker, ho had found tho peoplo generous to a great degree. On one occasion in Aberdeen he had to insist on the church committee taking back a pound or two of the money they were forcing on him. He had never done that in any city before. |
