DANCE AT MANGERE
NATIONAL PARTY FUNCTION A rally dance arranged by the combined Mnngere committees of the National Political Federation was held in the Mangere East Public Tlnl! on Wednesday night. Effectively decorated for tlie occasion by a ladies' committee, the hall formed a brilliant spectacle and setting for the gathering of nearly .'H)O guests. The walls were draped with hunting and flags, while the stage was decorated with foliage and flowers, arum lilies and tritona, in their white and red shades, forming a striking effect. The party banner in the form of a silver-let.tered display, designed by Miss Burn-Murdoch, was suspended over the proscenium. The dance programme was directed by Messrs. M. Rennie, C. R. Header, 13. Kirkbride and H. Speakman, and excellent music was provided by an orchestra conducted by Mr. L. Meredith. Card tables were arranged in the sido rooms for non-dancers. The arrangements for the evening were made by a committee, with Mrs. A. K. Belcher and Mr. G. Kirkbride as joint secretaries. An exhibition of dancing was given during the evening by Miss Matthias and Mr. Prendergast. The following members of the ladies' committee assisted in the arrangements: —Mrs. E. Gi. Massey, who wore old gold amethyst crepe suede; Mrs. R. Ellison, black georgette; Mrs. Jackson, black lacc; Mrs. Pheasant, apple green romaine; Mrs. M. Kirkbride, black marocain; Airs. Chapman, Marina blue marocain; Mrs. Laslett, mulberry crepe suede; Mrs. Gallic, brown lace; Mrs. Paull, black lace with relief; Mrs. Bickerton-Fisher, black soupte satin with jade green relief; Mrs. Saussey, black georgette; Mrs. Penman, black georgette; Mrs. Rennie, green crepe suede; Mrs. Gordon, rose chenille georgette; Mrs. Broadfoot, amethyst, souple satin; Mrs. Backhtirst, black georgette and lace; Mrs. A. K. Belcher, black Chantillv lace with scarlet relief; Miss J. Bum-Murdoch, gold lame and green tunic; Miss M. Speakinan, pink angelskin, Miss J. Court, scarlet crinkle crepe; Miss M. Taylor, turquoise Lombardy corded silk; Miss M. Clark, briar rose lace; Miss R. Kirkbride, navy and rose taffeta; Miss B. Kirk, Marina blue lace and silver; Miss H. Court, white crepe suede; Miss E.
