WHAKATANE TOURNAMENT [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHAKATANE, Thursday The knock-out basketball tournament of the Whakatane Association was held yesterday. Very keen competition resulted. The Whakatane A v. High School A game , was most spcctacr.lar, the school throwing the deciding goal as the whistle sounded, to win by 16 points to 15. A fine shield was presented to E. Rogers, captain of the High School team, by Mrs. Sullivan, and the Phillips Cup for competition pc-ints, v.'hich was also won by High School. NORTH AUCKLAND TEAM WELLINGTON TOURNAMENT [BT TELEGRArH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] KAITAIA, Thursday The North A\ickland representative basketball team to take part in the basketball tournament at Wellington next week will leave the north on Monday. The team is as follows:—Misses E. White. M. Urlich (Mangonui). E. Gabolinsky. captain. H. Donnelley (Hokianga), R. Painter, A. Whitehouse. J. Simpson (Whangarei), M. Hook, W. Wordsworth. E. Pratt (Northern Wairoa'), TT. Whitburn, S. Kins: (jOtnmatea); manageress, Mrs. R. L. McNabb, secretary of the North Auckland Association; coach, Mr. R. L. McNabb, president of the North Auckland Association. This is the first occasion that n North Auckland representative team has been assembled and has travelled.
