CONSTRUCTION OF PARK
DEVELOPMENT AT TAURANGA INTEREST IN MINIATURE GOLF [by TELEGRAPH —OWN' correspondent] TAURANGA, Sunday The district engineer of the Public Works Department, Mr.. H. Watkinson, advised tho Taurang;a Borough Council at its meeting that the detailed estimates for the year 1935-36 have been tentatively approved by the Main Highways Board, and ircluded three items totalling £594 on a £3 for £1 basis on roads under the council's jurisdiction. The council voted £lO from Stewart's Trust to the relief committee, and also £lO from same trust to tho Mayor's relief fund. A largely-signed petition was presented urging that a 'miniature golf course be laid out cn the elevated area overlooking the harbour northward of Monmouth liedoub;, and tho council decided to ask the Hamilton Borough Council for all particulars as to the running of its goll' course. After the receipt of the reply the endowments committee will present a report on the proposal. Several years ago, the council acquired a number of sections of land on the western side of the town peninsula in the vicinity of the present aerodrome. It was decided to accelerate the conversion of this area into a park. It was decided to notify the Electric Power Board tliat it is the council's intention to change the Cambridge Road electrical line from 11,000 volts to 33,000 volts. The borough inspector reported that 13 building permits; were issued during July, the estimated cost of the buildings totalling £3898.
