WINDS TO GALE FORCE RAIN IN MOST DISTRIOTB The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, was as follows: —Pressure has been low and unsteady, a series of secondary depressions having been passing in the South. An anti-cyclone covers eastern Australia -and the western Tasman Sea. The forecast is for moderate to strong westerly to south-westerly winds of galo force at places. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong south-westerly winds to galea and rough to high seas. The weather is likely to be changeable and squally with showers in most districts and hail onparts of the coast. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST COLD AND CHANGEABLE The Government meteorologist issued:' to the Hkeald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Strong westerly to southwesterly winds. The weather is likelv to be cold and changeable with frequent showers. Seas rough. WEEK-END WEATHER Auckland. —The weather was very boisterou'i and wet during the weekend. The strong westerly wind, which prevailed, blew in frequent squalls, accompanied by heavy rain and sometimes hail. These conditions continued last night. Christchurch. —The weather was fine in Christchurch on Saturdav with considerable sunshine, but a cold southerly wind was blowing. Yesterday was cold and mostly overcast. The barometer was steudy about 29.40 in. Dunedin. —Fine weather with passing cloud and sunshine and a light southwesterly breeze prevailed on Saturday. The maximum temperature was 53 degrees. The weather yesterday was fine and sunny, and there was a light northeasterly breeze. The maximum temperature was 52.5 degrees.
