The chairman, Mr. C. A. Hayward, in a review, stated that the number of suppliers had'increased to 659, while the company's output had now reached the total of 2352 tons for the year. Collection and manufacturing costs showed gratifying reductions. The scheme for the enlargement of the factory, and the provision of additional equipment, was proceeding satisfactorily. The expenditure of an additional £3OOO was recommended to provide new can washers, a new churn and new scales, and for the installation throughout the factory of special steel piping. The only way the market could be retained, said Mr. Hayward, was through quality. All other considerations must be subordinated to the maintenance and improvement of the quality of the company's product. The average grading for last season had been well maintained at 93.496, and the season's average payment for finest would be 9.750 d per lb. For the two months, June and July, the pay-out has amounted to £7580, compared with £563(5 during this period of the previous year. In addition to the above, a bonus will be paid to cheese suppliers at the rate of l-3d per lb. over the whole season, amounting to £3438. KATIKATI DISTRIBUTION JUNE RATE MAINTAINED The Katikati Co-cperative Dairy Company, Limited, Bay of Plenty, is paying lOd per lb. for first grade, free of any share deduction, for butter-fat supplied in July.
