MINIATURE CHAMPIONSHIPS [by telegraph—PßESS association] WELLINGTON, Sunday The New Zealand small-bora rifle shooting championships were won by J. M. Carmichael (Hnstings) with a double possible, 200, and nine extra bulls. J. D. Edmonds (Sumner, Redcliffs) was second with 200 and six, and E. Truman (Christchurch) was third with 200 and six. The vice-presidents' match was won by R. E. Taylor (Cashmere>- 100. and 40 extra bulls, retired unfinished. W. T. Taylor (Pleasant Point) was second with 100 and 17, The president's match was annexed by K. Bradshaw (Timaru), 100 and 18, with R. Meredith (Hilton), 100 and 10, second. In the B grade aggregate W. Jackson (Marißt. Old Boys, Christchurch), 100, was first. Eight tied for second place with 199. Tn tho match for the aggregate If? tied for first place with the possible. The ladies' match was won by Mrs. Andrews (Oamaru Railways), 100. Points in the champion teams' match were:—Hastings, 797; Christchurch Working Men's Club No. 1, 795. The ladies' teams mntch resulted:—Ward ladies No. 1, 390; New Brighton ladies No. 1, 886. AMMUNITION ISSUE DEPARTMENT'S CONCESSIONS [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Sunday An arrangement now made by tho Defence authorities by which there will be a free issue of 1929 small nrms ammunition to rifle clubs of tho Dominion for use at thoir butt« should lessen the complaints from clubs of tho oldness and poor Quality of the ammunition supplied. "It has been decided." said the Minuter of Defence, tho Hon. J. C'obbo, "to make to clubs a free issue of 19CS ammunition on the following scale:—(l) Rifle club members who fire a classification course as laid down in the muskotry courea pamphlet and who qualify, 100 rounds; (2) those who qualify ns 'marksraon," a further 100 rounds. "In addition to those grants of ammunition. each approved riflo association is'permittod to indent upon tho Defenoe Department for free issue up to 10,000 rounds for its annual mooting. A further cororssion to rifle club members takes tho form of allowing them to purchase from the Defence Department up to 500 rounds per annum of email arms ammunition at tho reduced price of 5s fid ft 100 rounds." Mr. Cobbo said that tho annual free issue of the pr<scribed number of rounds of ammunition to riflo clubs had been in operation for sony time as an encouragement to clulm. Over the last fivo years the quantity of free ammunition issued to rifle clubs in a riflo association averaged ovor 1,000,000 rounds per annum.
