DENSE WEEK-END FOG

MOTORISTS HANDICAPPED A dense fog which enveloped the city and suburbs late on Saturday night did not clear in most districts until after 10 o'clock yesterday morning. The fog was sufficiently dense to cause considerable inconvenience to motorists returning to their homes on Saturday night and in the early hours of yesterday morning, when visibility was seriously affected. Sunday golfers found tlie conditions a distinct handicap to accurate play. The wind was light from the south on Saturday, when the weather was fine, but cloudy. Yesterday the wind veered to the north-east, and before 11 a.m. bright sunshine dispelled the fog. Sunny conditions obtained throughout the day, although there was a wintry nip in the air. The barometer :it midnight was steady at 30.40 in.
