DEVONPORT CLUB'S FUNCTION DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES The Devonport Yacht Club held its annual distribution of prizes and smoke concert in the Masonic Hal?, Devonport, on Saturday evening. There was a large attendance "of members and visitors, including representatives of all the yacht clubs on the Waitemata and Manukau, and also Captain G. Dibbern and Mr. M. Black, of the yacht Te Rapunga. The commodore, Mr. G. Mackenzie, presided and, in extending a welcome to the visitors, he said tha« the Devonport Yacht Club had had a very successful season. He thanked all those who had assisted in furthering the club's interests. In proposing the toast of "Kindred Clubs." the president, Mr. G. Treyithick, commented upon the feeling of goodwill that exists among the various yacht clubs and yachtsmen generally. Responding to this toast. Mr. H. J. C. George, vice-commodore of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, said that the clubs were all doing their best to foster the sport of yachting and, although his own particular ,club did not cater for the smaller classes, the SQuadron realised the importance of small boats, and was always prepared to assist the younger hands in taking up yachting. The Mayor of Devonpcrt, Mr. H. F. Meihle, in presenting the prizes, congratulated the club on the success achieved last season. The most important prizes were won by the following:—Duder Cup, Ariki; Jellicoe Cup, Janet; Heiiald Cup, Arline; Hislop Cup, Marlene; AVilletts Memorial Cup. Karoro; champion flag, Mimic. First prize winners were:—Omntere, Komuri (8), Atalanta, Mnrlcne (3), Muinini (2), Celox, Calypso (2), Maroro, Manene. Mara, Karoro (2), Wakarana, Waiapu, Surprise (2), Rebel, Wahcne, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve whaler Rl, Philomel whaler 2P.K2. Other prize-winners were:—Avian, Martha S. lorangi, Tamarika. Valeria. Waitoa, Kea, Windjammer, Little Jim, Altair, Marika, Opah, Wnkanui, Waimarie. A varied programme of musical and vocal items was given during the evening.
