STUDENTS' PEACE BALLOT
EXTENSIVE QUESTIONNAIRE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE POLLS A " peace ballot," similar to those recently held by student bodies in Australia, the United States and Canada and by the League of Nations Union in Great Britain, is shortly to be conducted in the four colleges of the University of New Zealand and at Massey Agricultural College. An extensive questionnaire is being prepared "by the New Zealand University Students' Association and it is expected that the ballot papers 'frill be distri- . buted before the end of' the present term. , The wording of the questionnaire has not been finally decided upon, but it is understood that it will! contain questions bearing on the g€tneral attitude of students toward war, pence time conscription, effectiveness) of the League of Nations, British aind Europoan foreign policy and the course of action likely tci be taken by the students in the event of an outbreak of war. It is likely that questions on Socialism and Christianity as antidotea to war also will: be included. The proposal for a New Zealand ballot came from a group of students at Canterbury College, and has been taken up enthusiastically by the New Zealand University Students' Jlssociatio:n. Those organising the ballot at the Auckland University College stated yesterday that results would I>o announced early in the third term.
