NORTH AUCKLAND AREA NEW MODERATOR APPOINTED DELEGATES TO ASSEMBLY [by telegraph OWN correspondent] WHANGAItEI, Thursday The quarterly meeting of the North Auckland Presbytery was held in the Presbyterian Church yesterday, tho moderator, tho Rev. C. Brierly, presiding. • The Rev. D. H. Hay was appointed moderator for the ensuing year. The clerk, the Rev. W. Elliott, who is a member of the advisory board of tho General Assembly, reported that at the last meeting of the board in Wellington it was stated that - more money was required to meet tho Church's obligations to foreign missions. This was due chiefly to the rate of exchange and tho price of silver.' The total amount required for missionary work at home and abroad for the year was £41,000, of wjliicli the congregations throughout the Dominion were required to raise £33,000. The contribution from the North Auckland congregations was £4OO. The list of grants for the home niission stations and sanctioned charges within the presbytery totalled £1075. The Rev. C. Brierly, of Hikurangi, was dominated as North Auckland representative on the broadcasting committee. The Rev. J. D. McFarlane, Waipu, -submitted the Boundary Commission's report on the proposed boundaries for North Auckland homo mission stations and sanctioned charges. Tho report outlined definite boundaries, and every portion of North Auckland was placed under tho charge of a home missionary or minister. It was decided to refer the suggested boundary between tho Auckland and North Auckland presbyteries to tho former for its approval, and subsequently to tho General Assembly in Wellington for adoption. Tho Revs. W. Elliott and D. H. Hay were appointed delegates to the General Assembly in Wellington in November, representing the Whangarei and Dargaville charges respectively. It was also decided that the Waipu and Kaurihohore charges each appoint an elder to act as delegate. The Rev. W. Elliott . was appointed a representative for the standing committee of the assembly, and the Rev. D. H. Hay a representative for the records committee. The presbytery nominated the Rev. E. J. Tippler, 8.A., of Mount Eden, Auckland, as the next moderator of the General Assembly. WHANGAREI CONGREGATION FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS [BY telegraph —OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI. Thursday ' An increase of 29 in the membership roll of the church was announced at the annual meeting of the congregation of the Whangarei Presbyterian Church. The meeting, which was lareelv attended, xvas presided over by tho Rev. W. Elliott, M.A. The session report stated that there were 302 names on the communion roll and the average number attending Communion services was 178.5. The manager's report stated that there had been an improvement in tho financial position. The need for more systematic "contributions through the envelope system was urged by the managers. Tt was reported that the roll number of the Sunday Bchool was 213, an increase of 60 during the year. The membership of the cradle roll was 158. The activities of the women's missionary union had been very marked during the year, the amount raised for missions being over £B6, an increase over the previous year of £2l. The ladies' guild raised £29 during the year. Good progress was also reported by the other church auxiliary organisations. The budget for the year, totalling £IOB9, which includes £2OO for various missions, was adopted. It was decided to devote the legacy of £SO under the will of the late Mr. Nonnan McDonald toward providing an electric blower for the pipe organ. Tho following were elected to fill the three vacancies on the board of managers:—Messrs. AV. S. Burfoot, lan McKenzie and H. G. Appleton. Mr. A. J. Ching was elected auditor. The meeting expressed its sincere appreciation of the offer of tho Rev. W. Elliott to accept a reduced stipend, but felt that to comply with tho offer would not be in the best interests of the church, and the offer was declined. The meeting urged the congregation to meet its obligations in full as it had done in the past., ST. DAVID'S CONGREGATION ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual general meeting of St. David's Presbyterian Church wan held in the church hall on Wednesday, when the, annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. The treasurer's report showed the total revenue for the year as £2676. The largo attendance of members at the annual meeting was an indication of the appreciation of Mr. Black's ministry. It was interesting to the congregation that the 70th anniversary of tho establishment of St. David's will take place in October next, and . arrangements are in train for this important event fittingly to be observed. Owing to removals of office-bearers, the following additional members were appointed to the board of management:— Messrs. H. M. Gray, D. McLaren, P. L. Hunter and W. H. Struckctt.
