FLOOD DAMAGE REPAIRS USE OF MACHINERY RESERVE , [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] PAPAROA, Thursday It was reported- at the meeting of the Otamatea County Council yesterday that following the failure of the first trial ,bore in connection with the Ruawai water supply the plant is now being shifted to a bore on Donovan's property. • : « Repairs to the Raupo Wharf, following damage by a barge colliding with it, have been arranged. The expenditure of £IOO for the repairs necessitated by flood damage on the Ararua Road was authorised. Temporary repairs are to be effected on a number of other roads damaged by floods to enable traffic to proceed. The clerk outlined a Bcheme to reduce the present machinery reserve fund from £SOOO to £2500, distributing the amount over £2500 among the ridings to assist them in the present necessary expenditure. A reserve of £2500 is considered enough nt present to purchase necessary machinery. The council expressed approval of tho scheme. i The progress of arrangements for the ; establishment of a Raupo-Tikinui ferry j slip was outlined in a letter from the j Public Works Department. The esti- j mated cost is £322. Tho council undertook to contribute the Ruawai riding's share of the cost of £35. Authority to proceed with the work has not yet been received. Mr. S. R. Johnson was appointed stock ranger for the whdle county for six months. Tho county's contribution to the Kaipnra Hospital Board for the year was fixed at £2119.
Messrs. Skelton and Aickin wrote Btating that a copy of the lease«of tho Maungaturoto cattle dip "had been received from the Maungaturoto Dairy Company. Tho lease was for a term of 42 years.
