GRIPPED BY PYTHON
FEARFUL EXPERIENCE INCIDENT AT A ZOO NEW YORK, July 24 A 27ft. regal python in a 7.00 at Amityville, New York, recently attacked Mr. Otis Lloyd and coiled round his body. The reptile had wriggled out of the grasp of eight men. " I felt him paralyse my breathing," Mr. Lloyd said. " There should have been two of us at the snake's head. I thought I could handle him alone. My first thought was to escape his teeth. I tried to retain my grip on his head, but he was too powerful. Before I knew it, he sank his teeth into my left hand. Ho took out quite a piece, and I have one of his teeth as a souvenir. "In another second I saw the swirling coils around my chest. He used my arms as a pivot when he whipped away from the other men. I lost consciousness as the second coil wound round my stomach and legs. I don't know how they got him off. It was a miracle. Another 10 seconds would have been fatal."
