EX-SOLDIERS IN NEED
RELIEF AT ONEHUNGA EFFORTS OF COMMITTEE The quarterly report of the Onehunga and District Returned Soldiers' Association, presented at a meeting of members last evening, expressed regret that the economic situation appeared no brighter, and that many members were, through no fault of their Own, finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet. Appreciation was accorded the club's distress committee in its efforts to relieve cases of hardship in relation to which 286 orders had been issued on tradesmen involving an expenditure of upward of £l5O. The report indicated that several projects for augmenting the distress funds were under consideration by the executive. Appreciation was also expressed of the efforts of the women's committee in the making and distribution of garments, and of the action of the Onehunga Borough Council for its contributions from the Metropolitan Relief Fund.
