WEDDING IN SEPTEMBER BRIDE'S COSTLY DRESS (Received July 26. 9.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 26 An announcement of considerable interest to theatregoers was made to-day, Mr. Cyril Ritchard announcing that his marriage to Miss Madge Elliott would take place on September 16 at St. Mary's Basilica, Sydney. Miss Elliott's wedding gown has arrived from England. It cost about 400 guineas. The well-known soprano, Miss Gladys Moncrieff, will sing at the wedding. Mr. Cyril Ritchard and Miss Madge Elliott are well known in New Zealand, where they have appeared on numerous occasions in musical productions sponsored by the J. C. Williamson firm. They are accomplished dancers ~ and their acting ability has also been successfully tested, not only in the Dominions, but in London. Mr. Ritchard was born in Sydney on December 1, 1898. He was a medical student at Sydney University, but in 1917 ho entered upon,a stage career, making his first appearanco in the chorus in " A Waltz Dream," at His Majesty's, Sydney, in December of that year. Three nupnths later he was promoted to juvenile lead and light comedy parts and was continuously engaged with J. C. Williamsons until the end cf 1924, when he went to America. In the following year he and Miss Elliott weut to London, where Mr. Ritchard made his firet appearance on June 29 in " Bubbly " at the Duke of York's Theatre. After that ho had many successful engagements. Miss Elliott, who was born in-May, 1898, in Kensington, Lopdon, made her first appearance on the stage in 1912 at His Majesty's Theatre, Sydney, in the ballet during a Melba grand opera season. Later she played and danced in light opera and musical comedy in Australia and New Zealand. She returned to England in 1925 and appeared in " Bubbly" with Mr. Ritchard, and also in several other productions subsequently. She and Mr. Ritchard have been back in Australia for some time. They were seen together in Auckland two' or three years ago in " Blue Roses."
