WOMEN'S DIVISION

Mauku. —Owing to tlio unavoidable absence of the president (Mrs. Jones) tli July meeting was presided over by Mrs. Bellhouse (vice-president). A vote of sympathy was passed with Mrs. Rawlings, who is an inmate of a private hospital in Auckland. The toll call, "Suggestions for meetings or bazaars," was well responded to. These suggestions will be considered and acted upon at future meetings. Many useful and beautiful garments were brought for a forthcoming bazaar. Work is also being proceeded with for gift parcels. Drurv. —At the monthly meeting presided over by Mrs. Draper arrangements were made for the annual flower show. Reports were read by Misses V. Legg, A. Fielding and M. Dreadon in connection with the educational week which they attended in Auckland. Miss .Johnstone gave a most interesting demonstration of tatting. The competition for a thrift article was won by Mrs. Sharp with Mrs. Colson second. During the month the branch hold a card afternoon and Mrs. Draper gave a card evening at her home. Putaruru. —Mrs. J. .1. Shine presided at a recent meeting. After business had been dealt with a playettc, "The Banns of Marriage," was read by Mesdames Shine, Bis the, Campbell and Sneddon. Hostesses for tea were Mesdames Scott, ITensbaw, Monroe and Campbell. Towai.—Arrangements were made at a recent meeting for a social afternoon to be given to one of the members, who is shortly to be married. The roll call, "Limericks," was enjoyed and the home-made handkerchief competition was won by Mrs. A. Russek. Arrangements wore made for a "Mad Hatter's dance" to bo held early in August in aid of Division funds.
