ELECTORAL ROLLS
PROGRESS IN AUCKLAND MAIN LIST CLOSING Satisfactory prepress has been made with the revision of the electoral rolls in Auckland, a task which has occupied a special staff for several weeks past. The main roll will close on Monday, hut it will not be possible to make an immediate comparison of the rotors on the main roil this year with those in 1931.
j I here has been only a fair response jto the recent inquiries forwarded to j electors, asking them to notify the j office of the registrar of electors in . Auckland, by pre-paid mail, of any change of address. The returns have been somewhat spasmodic, although the electoral office has been considerably | assisted. Many electors have calied at ! the office in High Street, City, to deter- [ mine their electoral qualifications. The experience so far has been that an unusually large number of names has been removed from the rolls. This circumstance has been attributed largely to the floating population which" is encountered more in Auckland than elsewhere in New Zealand, and also to the fact that more than the ordinary time has elapsed since a general election. People who have not applied by Monday ior the inclusion of their names on tb?; main roll will appear in the supple- i mentary roll, but the date of closing will depend principally on the date of the genera! election.
