THE CITY MARKETS
ORANGES SLOW OF SALE MOST VEGETAELES PLENTIFUL Although the shipment of South Australian oranges tvhich arrived early this week by the Wanganella was of excellent quality, sales were fairly slow at the City Markets yesterday. It is considered that this is a result of the shops already being well stocked with Island fruit. There were few changes in the values of local fruit. Tomatoes realised slightly lower rates, but tree tomatoes were fn good demand. There was little inquiry for lemons and hxal grapefruit were slow of sale. Cauliflowers were in heavy supply and prices were much lower. Kumaras also were available in large quantities at last week's rates. Good quality celery sold at high values, whiie sprouts and hothouse beans were in keen demand. There was a glut of pumpkins and lemons.
