LOST RAILWAY TICKET
ALLEGATIONS IN COURT [by telegraph—OWN* correspondent] HUNTLY; Friday A charge of stealing a railway ticket was made against John Henry Park, a miner, in the Huntly Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M. Defendant pleaded not guilty. The ticket was the property of David Robertson Fleming, also a miner. Defendant said that he had picked up the ticket, which was lying on the floor of the bath-house at the mine, He did not know to whom it belonged and did not know he was committing an offence by appropriating it to his own use. .Tames Lancaster, .who accompanied defendant into the bath-house, said it was not possible for Park to take the ticket from complainant's clothing without witness' knowledge, as witness was in the bath-house all the time. The magistrate was convinced that Park acted in ignorance, and said he would not enter a conviction, but lie would order him to pay to tho owner of the ticket 3s Bd, which was the cost of the unexpired portion of the ticket, and costs 13s, and witnesses' expenses Bs.
