MILITARY DANCE
THE 20TH BATTERY A scene of gaiety was presented in the Manchester "Unity Oddfellows' Hall last evening when the annual* dance of the 20th Light Battery, New Zealand Artillery, was held. Two 3.7 howitzers were placed on the stage at each side of the orchestra and an enlarged replica of the artillery badge was suspended over the heads of the dancers. A large Union Jack at the back of the stage . completed the appropriately military decorations in the hall. A social committee, with Second-Lieutenant J. L. Duigan as chairman, arranged the dance, which was well attended. On arrival ' the guests were received by the battery commander, Captain F. C. Rawle, and Mrs. Rawle, who wore a frock of cherry floral taffeta and a short white fur coat.

Harp, black marocain; Miss D. Weller, apple green crepe Henri; Miss D. P. Proud, black frilled taffeta; Miss H. Austad, wine sequinned marocain; Miss S. Martin, white frilled georgette; Miss V. Newton, black panne vehet; Miss M. Skeen, black taffeta and ecru lace; Miss P. Taylor, white souple satin; Miss D. Bramley, flame floral georgette; Miss T. Weston, lacquer red chiffon velvet; Miss L. Dyson, waterlily green georgette; Miss B. Lunn, orchid marocain; Miss C. Moll, larkspur blue chiffon velvet; Miss B. Milne, scarlet crepe fleuri; Miss J. Boss, daffodil georgette; Miss Ethel Lunisden, petunia georgette and lace; Miss 1. Waters, Solent blue chiffon velvet; Miss C. Matthews, lilac pebble' crepe; Miss R. Russell, apple green ring velvet; Miss J. Lawson, powder blue angelskin lace; Miss C. Cramer, shell pink georgette; Miss R. Collcdge, maize tafTeta; Miss S. Martin, flame floral marocain; Miss S. Stephenson, lilac crinkled crepe; Miss D. ■' Terry, geranium red panne velvet; Miss P. Frank, vieux rose chiffon; Miss R. Hodgson, parchment lace and georgette; Miss V. Lennox, flame georgette.
