The Hon. Eliot R. Davis, M.L.C., returned from Wellington by the limited express yesterday morning.
Mr. J. J- Salmon, superintendent of the Dunedin City Fire Brigade, will retire on July 31, after completing 50 years in the fire service.
Mr. G. R. Hutchinson and Dr. S. K. Phillips left by yesterday afternoon's express for Wellington, where attend a meeting of the Broadcasting Board. M.
Mr. William Lock, a former Mayor of Nelson, was present at the meeting of the Auckland City Council last nightfc and occupied a seat on the dais with'' the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis.
Mr. H. C. Couch, district traffic manager of railways at Wanganui, will leave to-morrow to take up similar duties at Auckland, in succession to Mr. G. T. Wilson, traffic superintendent at Wellington.
Mr. W. Wallace, chairman of the' Hospital Board, left for Wellington by' train yesterday afternoon to attend meetings of the executive of the Hospitals' Association and of " the Nurses' Registration Board. He will later visit Waipulcurau, and is expected to return on Thursday.
