MANY QUEEN STREETS
FOURTEEN IN AUCKLAND NAME DUPLICATION TROUBLE The duplication of street names throughout the Auckland metropolitan area was the subject of a communication from/the chief postmaster at Auckland, received by the City Council last night. It was stated that the duplication caused considerable trouble to the post office and another difficulty was the absence of street name-plates, especially in the suburbs. The chief postmaster suggested concerted local body action to rectify the position. The city engineer, Mr. J. Tyler, reported that there Mere actually 14 "Queen Streets" in the metropolitan area. The council's practice had always been to avoid duplication, especially when new streets were being named or when alterations were being made, and he recommended that the council should co-operate with the post office in eliminating duplication. The engineer's rel>ort was adopted.
