TROUBLE WITH CYCLISTS
"THE SUICIDE BRIGADE" Whether cyclists should he compelled to register their machines and so make their identification easier if they arc misappropriated, and also nlfike it impossible for them to give false names and addresses in the event of their beinjj stopped by traffic officers is one question; whether they should be allowed to qualify for membership of the suicide brigade is another, states the Wellington Post.
On a. recent evening a count of cyclists on the main Hutt Road between the Petone crossing and the Hutt Kiver Bridge, shortly after half-past five, gave these results:—Total cyclists passed, 15; no lights, 5; no rear reflectors (or reflectors so carelessly attached as to give no reflection of car headlights), 8; torches in place of lamps, 3. Apparently it is not easy to catch cyclists who break the by-laws, otherwise how. could so many successfully ignore them?
