RELIEF WORKERS' DOGS
REGISTRATION FEES QUESTION OF PAYMENT A suggestion that the Mount Eden Borough Council should give some ruling on the question of the payment or otherwise of dog registration fees by relief workers was made by the council's dog inspector, Mr. W. G. Lange, in a report submitted at last night's meeting of the council. Mr. Lange said many unemployed who owned dogs considered they should not pay annual fees. No provision for such cases was made in the Dog Registration Act. "The coming of age of dogs is difficult to ascertain and cunning people defer the six months period until after July 31," stated the report. "It may be that the fees should have been paid two months earlier, but by holding the matter over these people save 3s 9d." The matters were referred to a subcommittee.
