EXPORT OF MEAT

FURTHER EXPANSION SHOWN Further expansion in exports of all classes of meat, with the exception of frozen and boneless beef, is shown in progress returns to May 15 compiled by the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board. Shipments of lamb for the season from October 1, 1934, to May 15, 1935, were 5,914,499 carcases, compared with 5,305,868 carcases in the same period last season. Exports of mutton increased from 915,050 carcases to 1,260,761 carcases, while pork shipments improved from 289,184 carcases to 388,942 carcases. Chilled beef exported amounted to 30,398 quarters, against 12,528 quarters, but frozen beef totalled 201,299 quarters, compared with 267,990 quarters, and boneless beef exports were reduced from 151,171 bags to 140,716 bags. In addition, the following stocks were loaded into vessels not departed on May 15: —Beef, 21,439 (32,701); wethers, 19,603 (18,282): ewes, 31,514 (24,913); lambs, 377,600 (310,123); porkers, 11,806 (8652); bacoriers. 4510 (2285).
