CRUSADE FOR CHRIST
Sir,—Re the contemplated "Crusade for Christ" to be initiated by a city church when a visitation of 8000 homes will be made. No one but can rejoice if it is a crusade for Christ, but if it develops into a crusade to boost a city church then, alas, the Kingdom will suffev. Can we be sure that the "team of enthusiasts" will not be asking people to ride past suburban churches in order to swell the congregation of the city church? Some of us have experienced such canvassing in days gone by, when young enthusiasts condemned every other church or minister that did not pronounce their particular shibboleth, and invited folk to come to the only place where the "old gospel is preached." Why not this busy city pastor set the whole crusade before his brother-ministers and invite all the churches to join in a "go to church Sunday"? This is quite a common thing in Australia. latros.
